In 2009, UQ was ranked as one of the top 50 universities in the world by the prestigious Times Higher Education Supplement. In addition to this, the University has won more Australian Awards for University Teaching than any other Australian university.
All campuses are located in, or near, Brisbane – Australia's third largest capital city. Brisbane is a safe, friendly, and multicultural capital city renowned for its excellent climate and affordable lifestyle. The golden beaches of the Gold Coast are just an hour's drive south while the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches are a short drive to the north, along with National Parks, rainforests, and further attractions.
UQ's St Lucia is a great place to study. UQ St Lucia, the University's largest campus, comprises gracious sandstone buildings, parklands and lakes that surround world-class teaching and research facilities.
UQ has more than 4,000 high-quality courses with many offering theoretical or practical components that are unique to UQ. Many courses focus on Australian topics or offer field trips to unique locations in South-east Queensland, while other courses promote group project work or research opportunities.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad students are guaranteed pre-arranged accommodation at UQ. There are a variety of housing options available which you will apply for after acceptance. Options include pre-arranged accommodations with or without meals and housing arranged upon arrival by student.
The Mates@UQ program encourages social and academic networks between Australian and international students. It provides students with the opportunity to meet new people from many different countries and take part in a range of social and learning activities. UQ students also have the opportunity to join a variety of clubs and societies who organize a variety of activities and excursions.
In addition to the scholarships offered by GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, University of Queensland supports GlobaLinks students with two awards annually for 1/2 of tuition costs. The approximate value for each award is $4,875 AUD.
About GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Programs in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, formerly AustraLearn, programs are created with individual student's goals in mind. Our programs are built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by our amazing staff, both in the U.S. and overseas. Our Discovery Model provides every student with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. Our North American staff counsels each student through the application and enrollment process, and our on-site Resident Coordinators set up a calendar of activities for students related to each area of discovery. These activities are more than just tourist excursions, and include opportunities like networking events, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can't find in a travel book.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji include everything you would expect in a study abroad program: guaranteed housing, 24-hour in-country support, an in-country multi-day orientation program, comprehensive pre-departure services, excursions, and discovery activities to make the most out of each student's experience. Students of all majors are welcome to apply and scholarships are available.
